The home team capitalized on these mistakes, converting them into 20 points and maintaining a lead throughout the game.
D'Youville began the game with a strong inside presence, highlighted by Molly O'Toole's (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) jumper in the paint at 8:06, assisted by Alyssa Neumann (Silverdale, Wash. / Central Kitsap). Despite an early three-point play by O'Toole at 8:49, D'Youville was unable to maintain a consistent scoring run. The Golden Knights extended their lead with several key baskets, including a fast-break jumper at 7:09.
D'Youville attempted to close the gap with a late 3-pointer by Trinity Small (West Chester Township, Ohio / Purcell Marian) at 00:35, but turnovers and fouls hindered their progress. The period ended with the Golden Knights leading 54–34.
D'Youville made notable strides in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a layup and free throw sequence by Morgan Giancaterino (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Sacred Heart Academy) at 6:31, which reduced the deficit. The team showed resilience with a 3-pointer from O'Toole at 5:21 and a fastbreak layup from Megan Fedor (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira) at 4:33.
