Softball Sweeps Beavers; Saints Take Down Minot State and Bemidji State

VIERA, Fla. — D'Youville University (7-5) secured two victories on Tuesday, starting with a narrow 1-0 win over Minot State University (9-6) in eight innings, followed by a 5-4 triumph against Bemidji State (6-15) at Space Coast Complex.
In the first game against Minot State, Summer Clark (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville East) was dominant in the circle, collecting 13 strikeouts and allowing only two hits over eight innings. The matchup remained scoreless through the first seven innings, with both teams unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities. D'Youville finally broke the stalemate in the eighth inning. Taylor Stronciski (Winnipeg, Manitoba / College Beliveau)  began the inning on second base and Hailee Jenkins (Ontario, Canada / Fenelon Falls) executed a sacrifice bunt, advancing Stronciski, and Sophia Arno (Clarence Center, N.Y. / The Brook Hill School) followed with a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Stronciski to score the game's only run. D'Youville's pitching, led by Clark, held the Beavers scoreless, securing a 1-0 victory.
Summer Clark shined with her performance, pitching 8 innings while allowing just 2 hits, no walks, and striking out 13 batters, contributing to her sixth win of the season. Shannon Howes (Palgrave, Ontario / St. Thomas Aquinas) contributed at the plate with a hit in three at-bats, while Isabella Mancino (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) added a hit and a stolen base during her three at-bats. Sophia Arno drove in the lone run with her sacrifice fly, enhancing the team's offensive efforts.
In the second game against Bemidji State, D'Youville edged out a 5-4 victory. In the first inning, Shannon Howes walked and later scored on a triple by Jorja Sandilands (Brooklin, Ontario / Brooklin). Sandilands crossed the plate on a double by Mikayla Hussar (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West), giving D'Youville a 2-0 lead. Bemidji State responded in the second inning with a run on a bunt single, bringing the score to 2-1, which remained until the fourth inning when Gabby Moreno (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Beuna Vista) doubled to bring in two runs, extending the lead to 4-1.
However, Bemidji State rallied in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to tie the game 4-4. In the sixth inning, Taylor Stronciski, running as a pinch runner for Moreno, scored on a single by Howes, which proved to be the winning run. The seventh inning was scoreless for both teams, securing D'Youville's victory at 5-4.
Kendal Lehnen (Sherrill, N.Y. / Vernon Verona Sherrill) pitched 4 innings for D'Youville, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs while walking 3 batters. Summer Clark entered in relief, pitching 3 innings and allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. 
Shannon Howes scored one run and added two hits, contributing one RBI and a stolen base. Gabby Moreno collected two hits, both doubles, driving in two runs. Mikayla Hussar recorded two hits, including a double, and scored one run with one RBI. Jorja Sandilands posted a triple among her two hits, scoring one run and driving in another.
