Coach Rushford Records First Career Win, Saints WIn 14-12

BUFFALO, N.Y.  — D'Youville University earned its first win of the 2026 season and the first victory under head coach McKenna Rushford with a 14–12 triumph over Davenport University in women's lacrosse action Saturday.

The Saints used a balanced offensive effort and strong possession numbers to control the tempo throughout the afternoon. D'Youville finished with a 30–29 edge in shots and dominated the draw circle, winning 19 draw controls to create extra opportunities. Danielle Gephart powered the Saints' offense with a standout performance, recording four goals and three assists for a game-high seven points. Madison Handley and Madison McGinn each added three goals, while Sam Newlin contributed two goals and two assists as D'Youville placed 24 shots on goal. The Saints built momentum in the middle quarters before holding off a late Davenport push in the fourth. Goalkeeper Kaylee Farias played all 60 minutes and recorded nine saves, including several key stops down the stretch to preserve the lead. D'Youville's depth and ball control proved decisive as the Saints converted possessions into timely scoring runs and closed out the contest for the two-goal victory.

The win marks an early-season milestone for the program, giving the Saints their first victory of the year and providing Rushford her first career win at the helm.
