**The Glenville State Tournament**
GLENVILLE, W.Va. — D'Youville University (1-1) had a mixed start in the Glenville State Tournament, securing a 3-1 victory over Seton Hill (0-1) on Thursday before falling 16-9 to West Virginia State University (1-0) on Friday.
In the matchup against Seton Hill, D'Youville's pitching staff was dominant, holding the Griffins to just three hits while recording nine strikeouts. The scoring opened early for D'Youville in the first inning, as Frankie Morris (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) scored on a sacrifice fly by Gabby Moreno (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Buena Vista), giving D'Youville a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
The second inning saw D'Youville extend its lead to 3-0, with Isabella Mancino (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) singling and later scoring on a groundout by Shannon Howes (Palgrave, Ontario / St. Thomas Aquinas). Additionally, Danielle Fenlong (Georgetown, Ontario / Christ the King SS) crossed the plate due to a failed pickoff attempt. Seton Hill managed to score in the seventh inning off a double, but it wasn't enough to overcome D'Youville's lead, resulting in a final score of 3-1.
Summer Clark (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville East) was the standout pitcher, recording nine strikeouts and allowing only three hits in a complete game effort, securing her first win of the season. Offensively, Jorja Sandilands (Brooklin, Ontario / Brooklin) contributed two hits in three at-bats, while Morris added to the scoring opportunities by drawing two walks and scoring a run.
In game two, D'Youville faced West Virginia State in a high-scoring affair. D'Youville started strong, scoring five runs in the first inning, highlighted by Jorja Sandilands' two-run double and RBI singles from Annie Jorgenson (Victoria, B.C. / Belmont SS) and Danielle Fenlong, ending the inning with a 5-3 lead. They further extended their advantage to 8-5 in the second inning with an RBI single from Jorgenson and another from Mancino, plus a throwing error that allowed an additional run to score.
However, West Virginia State rallied, tying the game at 9-9 with a four-run fifth inning. The Yellowjackets took the lead in the sixth and sealed the game with five runs in the seventh, resulting in a final score of 16-9.
Hailee Jenkins (Ontario, Canada / Fenelon Falls SS) pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing six hits and seven runs (six earned), while Kendal Lehnen (Sherrill, N.Y. / Vernon Verona Sherrill) started the game, giving up eight hits and nine earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
