BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sparked by a dominant second-half surge, the D'Youville men's basketball team erased a 19-point deficit to defeat Queens College 90–84 on Sunday afternoon at Saints Center Gym.
Queens controlled the opening half, capitalizing on several early turnovers and pushing the lead to double digits by the midpoint of the period. The Knights continued to shoot efficiently as the half progressed, ultimately stretching their advantage to 19 and heading into the locker room with a 53–36 cushion. Despite the rough start, the Saints stayed afloat with strong rebounding from Dawson Matsell, key trips to the free-throw line from Maxence Massadila, and timely three-point shooting from Lucus Brown.
The Saints completely flipped the script after halftime. A quick layup from Trayton Trice and a three from Sean Reynolds sparked the rally, and moments later, Elisha Warren powered through the lane for a score to continue the momentum. Freshman Lashard Lowry Jr. then buried a deep three to pull the Saints even at 61–61, shifting the momentum inside the Saints Center Gym.
D'Youville took its first lead shortly after, riding Lowry Jr.'s offensive burst to a 69–65 advantage. The freshman guard was unstoppable throughout the second half, finishing with 26 points while going a perfect 9-for-9 at the free-throw line and knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Warren matched that intensity, delivering 19 points, 10 rebounds, and eight made free throws to secure a double-double. In the paint, Marko Milivojevic provided a flawless showing, going 5-for-5 from the field for 13 points and adding four blocks to anchor the Saints' interior defense. Matsell's presence on the boards remained critical as he gathered 11 rebounds to help limit second-chance opportunities for Queens.
With the Knights pressing late, D'Youville sealed the win at the line, converting 32 free throws on the day—including several from Warren and Lowry Jr. in the closing minutes—to complete the comeback.
The Saints now turn their attention to a road matchup at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Friday, Dec. 12, with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Sparkill, N.Y.
