Saints Fall to #20 IUP on the Road

INDIANA, Pa. — D'Youville fell to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 77-38, at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex on Thursday. Despite 23 points from the bench, D'Youville could not overcome the Crimson Hawks' 38 points in the paint and 21 fast break points.
D'Youville opened the game with a focused effort, highlighted by Ava Pearson's (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie) contribution from beyond the arc at 4:45 and 1:49, narrowing the gap to 17–8. However, turnovers were a challenge, which the Crimson Hawks capitalized on, leading to a 19–8 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Molly O'Toole (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) sparked D'Youville with an early three-pointer at 9:10, but the team's shooting struggles persisted throughout the quarter. Megan Fedor (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira) added another three-pointer at 5:35, keeping the visitors competitive. However, the Crimson Hawks capitalized on a series of opportunities to maintain their lead, ending the quarter ahead 35–18.
D'Youville faced a challenging third quarter and despite early efforts, including a layup by Morgan Giancaterino (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Sacred Heart Academy) at 7:59, the Saints fought to keep up with a quick IUP pace. The Crimson Hawks capitalized on turnovers, converting them into fast-break points, contributing to a significant scoring margin. The quarter ended with D'Youville trailing 60-25, as the Crimson Hawks extended their lead.
D'Youville showed resilience in the final quarter, highlighted by Karly Holm's (Two Harbors, Minn. / Two Harbors) three 3-pointers, with her first at 7:11 and another at 6:29, keeping the team competitive. Despite D'Youville's efforts, the Crimson Hawks maintained control with a consistent scoring pace, including a key layup and free throws that extended their lead. The fourth quarter concluded with the Crimson Hawks outscoring D'Youville 17–13, and the game ended with the Crimson Hawks securing a victory with a final score of 77–38.
Karly Holm scored 10 points, converting all three of her 3-point attempts. Ava Pearson added six points, making two out of four shots from beyond the arc. Molly O'Toole contributed five points and collected three rebounds. Alyssa Neumann (Silverdale, Wash. / Central Kitsap) recorded four points and grabbed three rebounds.
