BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's tennis team returned to East Coast Conference action at South Towns Tennis Center on Saturday, falling 7-0 to visiting Queens College in their final match of the fall schedule.
Both teams entered the contest unbeaten and tied at the top of the ECC standings. Queens set the early tone by earning the doubles point with wins on all three courts. D'Youville's top duo of Munisa Ashurbekova and Nele Herbst pushed their match to the wire at No. 1 doubles, but the Knights held on for a narrow 7-5 victory to complete the sweep.
In singles play, the Saints continued to compete through several tight battles. At the No. 1 position, Munisa Ashurbekova opened strong by taking the first set before Queens responded to claim the match. On the No. 4 court, Erika Ismailova also forced a decisive third set after winning the opener 6-2, but the Knights ultimately secured the remaining points to finish the sweep.
