BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Saints Men's Volleyball team hosted the Thomas More University Saints on Monday night defeating them 3-0.

Set One
The Saints took the early 4-1 lead following a service ace from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint), Thomas More fought back to 6-4, but the Saints went on a four-point run following an ace from Shaun Vattakuzhiyil (Sugar Land, TX / Elkins) and a kill from Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. /Kettle Moraine) to extend their lead to 10-4. The Saints fought back bringing the score within two, but the Saints went on a three-point run following a service ace from Ty Parker (Syracuse, N.Y. / Jamesville-Dewitt) to bring them back to a five-point lead.

With the score at 19-16 in DYU's favor, the Saints went on a six-point run to give them the 25-16 win in set one.

Set Two
The second set started close with Thomas More taking the early lead, but D'Youville stayed close. A service error from the Saints tied the game at 10, but the Saints got back on top. A three-point run from the Saints brought them within one at 19-18 following two errors and a kill from Jacob Malak. De Wilde managed to tie it up for the Saints at 24 after he delivered a back-to-back service ace and a kill, and an error put the Saints up 25-24. The game tied at 25, but the Saints capitalized on two Saints errors to win the second set 27-25.

Set Three
Shaun Vattakuzhiyil recorded three kills in a row to put the Saints up 4-2 in set three and DYU held the lead until the Saints tied it up at 10. The Saints retook the lead, capitalizing on three errors to bring the score to 19-15. The Saints went on another three-point run bringing the score to 23-17 and after the Saints got one back, the Vattakuzhiyil would record one final kill and a Saints error would give the Saints the 25-18 win in set three and the 3-0 win in the match.

Saints Stats
Shaun Vattakuzhiyil led the Saints offense with 10 kills in the match while Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park) was right by his side recording 23 assists and 10 digs. The Saints recorded 31 kills, five service aces, and 25 digs in their victory.

With their win over Thomas More, the Saints move to 7-6 overall on the season.
