BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Field Hockey Team dropped a Tuesday afternoon game to Wingate University 5-0.

The Bulldogs took the lead early jumping up 2-0 in the first six minutes of play. The Saints worked hard to stay in the game, but Wingate netted two more goals before halftime to go up 4-0.

The Saints got an opportunity in the third quarter with a penalty corner. Alexis Schleef (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) got a shot off, but it was blocked. Wingate gained the momentum again on offense and netted their fifth goal, but the Saints put a stop to it there as Schleef recorded two defensive saves. As gameplay continued in the fourth, Kelsey Robertson (Holland, N.Y. / Holland) took a shot, but could not sneak it by. Sydney Bolesta (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas) made a big stop recording a defensive save and Hayden Herbold (East Aurora, N.Y. / Iroquois) recorded five saves in goal to take the game to its end.

The Wingate Bulldogs would take the win 5-0 over the Saints.
