Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY - The D'Youville University baseball team used a three-run eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie to take game one before a five-run first in game two was all they needed to swept the Mercy College Mavericks 8-4 on Friday afternoon.
Game One - DYU 5, MER 2
- MER one-out triple comes around to score in first inning.
- In the DYU third, a leadoff single and sacrifice bunt set up Alec Boucher to bring home the tying run via a sacrifice fly, 1-1.
- Jon Simpson's leadoff home run to left put DYU ahead 2-1 after five.
- MER responded quickly with a one-out RBI double in the sixth to knot the game at 2-2.
- A Hunter Nowak inning starting walk followed by an Ethan Hammond single put runners on the corners to start the eighth.
- Billy Morris followed with a sacrifice fly down the right field line in foul territory as Nowak beat a strong throw by the MER right fielder at the plate, DYU 3-2.
- Craig Oliver's 2-RBI double added a pair of insurance runs to make it 5-2 DYU heading to the ninth.
- Chris Auclair was llifted from the game after 8 1/3 innings pitched as he hit the first batter of the ninth but Samuel Worthen worked around a pair of singles to earn his fourth save.

Game Two - DYU 8, MER 4
- MER got on the board in the first for the third straight game of the series as a DYU 2-out error led to three unearned runs crossing the plate for the Mavericks.
- DYU answered quicly with a Hammond sacrifice fly and a Simpson RBI single to cut the margin to 3-2 before a Blaise Kolbert bases loaded, two-out, 2-RBI single to center put the Saints ahead 4-3.
- Morris' RBI fielder's choice pushed the DYU lead to 6-4 in the second before he helped his own cause on the mound by hitting a 2-run jack to left in the fourth, 8-3 DYU.
- MER added one back in the fifth but Zach Penner allowed just one hit over the last two innings in relief of Morris to seal the victory.
