ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The D'Youville University women's basketball team traveled to St. Bonaventure University for an exhibition game on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bonnies by a score of 62-48. 

The Saints had a strong showing in the first half, going into halftime tied with St. Bonaventure, but faded in the second half. DYU was led offensively by junior Stella Mollica (Shillington, Pa.) and junior Anna Jankovic (Averill Park, N.Y.), as the pair each scored 12 points. Jankovic also made her presence known on the boards, as she and senior Carla Torrubia Cano (Melilla, Spain) led the team in rebounds with five. Junior Sofie Fuglsang (Oberanven, Luxembourg) dropped nine points, all coming from behind the arc. 

Jankovic opened the scoring for the Saints with a layup at the 8:22 mark. After the Bonnies opened the game on a 10-2 run, Mollica disrupted the momentum with her first three-pointer of the night. The Saints ended the quarter trailing 17-6. Fuglsang sparked an offensive resurgence for the Saints as she opened the second quarter quarter with a three-pointer. Three pointers from Jankovic and Fuglsang brought the Saints to within two of the Bonnies, now trailing just 19-17 at the 3:38 mark. A steal and subsequent layup from Jankovic evened the score at 19 with 2:46 remaining in the half. DYU grabbed their first lead of the afternoon after junior Jaelyn Vleer-Elliott (Waterville, N.Y.) converted two free throws to put the Saints in front 21-19 with 1:47 remaining. Jankovic capped off the quarter with a driving layup to send things to halftime at a 23-23 deadlock; a quarter in which the Saints outscored the Bonnies 17-6.

A Jankovic layup and Mollica jumper in the paint put DYU back in front 27-26 two minutes into the third quarter. After St. Bonaventure retook the lead, senior Brianne Moxley (Penfield, N.Y.) converted a layup to move the Saints back ahead at the 7:13 mark. Sophomore Morgan Giancaterino (Orchard Park, N.Y.) put a stop to a 10-0 Bonnies run with a two-point jumper to cut DYU's deficit to 38-31 with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter. Torrubia Cano would cut the Bonnies lead to five with a three-pointer with a minute left in the quarter. St. Bonaventure would begin to pull away in the fourth quarter, as they opened up their lead to 11 one minute in. Giancaterino and Mollica both cashed in from three-point land to cut the Bonnies lead to seven with 4:24 to go. But the Saints ran out of gas from there, as the Bonnies went on a 10-0 run to put the contest out of reach.

DYU will begin their regular season schedule next Friday, as they face Dominican University (N.Y.) at the STAC Tip-off in Sparkill, N.Y. at 5:00 p.m.
