DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team finished up their weekend on the road with a 3-1 loss to Mercy University.
D'Youville University 1 at Mercy University 3 – (23-25, 17-25, 27-25, 15-25)
First Set
Match play started out even, but the Saints quickly took the lead going up 8-4 after a service ace from
Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y.). The Mavericks would work to retake the lead for the remainder of the game. O'Brien has a kill to make the game 24-23, but the Mavericks earned the last point to win the first set.
Second Set
Again, the Saints played close with the Mavericks to start set two, but eventually the Mavericks took control of the game. An ace from
Kendal Haberer (Derby, N.Y. / Lake Shore) tried to keep the Saints in the game, but the Mavericks went on to win set two 25-17.
Third Set
Mercy started the third set with a 4-0 lead, but the Saints never let up. The Mavericks held the lead until the Saints came back to tie the game at 13. The Mavericks managed to get up 20-17 on the Saints, but a kill form
Giselle Ramirez (Miami, Fla./School for Advances Studies) and two Mavericks errors tied the game at 20. The fight continued until the game was tied at 25. A kill from
Isabelle Prentice (Bainbridge, Wash./Bainbridge) and a kill from
Eve Musielak (Eden, N.Y./Eden) gave the Saints the 27-25 win.
Fourth Set
Match play was even again in the fourth set, with the Saints leading 10-9 after a Mavericks error. Mercy then went on a run scoring 10 points with the Saints only scoring two in that time. A kill from
Brianna Damstetter (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors) put the Saints behind 15-21, and the Mavericks would go on to win the fourth set 25-15 and the match 3-1.

The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team returns home for another ECC game against Daemen University on Thursday, October 12th at 7:00 pm. The Saints will host Daemen for Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
